Meet The Team

Kenny

Kenny McHardy is a highly accomplished chef and restaurateur, renowned for his innovative woodfire cooking. In 2015, he and his wife Jody founded Manuka Woodfire Kitchen, an establishment that has since become synonymous with using locally sourced, seasonal produce from ethical and sustainable farms in WA. Kenny's expertise with woodfire cooking has enabled him to create simple yet outstanding woodfired dishes that show his skill and commitment to his craft. Originally from NZ, Kenny's culinary journey began at the age of 14 and has taken him to some of the world's most prestigious kitchens, including Michelin-starred restaurants in London and the celebrated Two Hatted Walters Wine Bar in Melbourne. Upon his return to WA, he went on to lead the kitchens of several iconic restaurants, including The Garden in Leederville, Coco’s Restaurant in South Perth, The Red Herring in East Fremantle, and Due South in Albany. Kenny's love for cooking with fire is what sets him apart as a chef, and he brings that same passion and expertise to our newest venue, Shirley’s.

Florian

Flo is a hospitality professional with over a decade of experience in the industry. With hospitality experience in both France and Australia it's not surprising in most recent years he's lead local Freo favourites such as Bread in Common & Whisper Wine Bar. For the past three years you would've come to know Flo as the super friendly, nothing is a problem, fearless leader on the Manuka floor. Outside of work, you'll likely bump into him if you're also into rock-climbing, latin dancing or pilates. Flo grew up in Marseille, France until age 23. He then began to fill his world with travel of NZ, South America, Canada, Mexico, Colombia and Cuba. All whilst accomplishing qualifications including a Diploma of Hospitality Management, a Baccalauréat of Social and Economic Studies with English Major, and a Bachelor of Law, Commerce, and Management. Flo's passion for good food, outstanding wine, and interacting with people is evident in his work and personal life. With impeccable taste in wine, you'll love what he has listed at both Shirley's.
